Dust Treatment for Cattle

One dust formulation is registered for treating lice in calves. This formulation may be useful in situations where only one or a few animals need to be treated. Dust formulations are unlikely to be a useful option when larger numbers of calves need to be treated.

If a dust is used, make sure to thoroughly treat the whole animal, paying particular attention to the sites where the targeted lice species prefer to live. Rub the dust into the hair and onto the skin. This dust does not kill eggs so animals will need to be retreated after 10 – 14 days to achieve good control.

Be careful to guard against inhalation of dust, preferably by use of a mask and as with other chemical use gloves and protective clothing when treating animals.
